With former Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti wanting to reunite with the defensive midfielder, with whom he worked at Napoli, the Brazilian joined the Merseyside club in 2020 in a deal worth ÂŁ21.7m.
During his two-year tenure at Goodison Park, the 31-year-old made 57 appearances for the Toffees, 52 of which came in the Premier League.
However, under Frank Lampardâs reign, Allan featured just 13 times for the club, failing to make a single appearance in the 2022/23 season as he was continually snubbed by the manager.

The Verdict: Replaced by younger talent
After a decent first season with Everton as a regular under Ancelottiâs guidance, Allan seemed to be a strong signing for the Blues, who came in as one of the club’s highest-paid players on ÂŁ120,000 per week.
However, his propensity for injuries and decreasing levels of athleticism meant that he fell further down Lampardâs pecking order at the club, leading to some journalists issuing unforgiving labels such as ‘imposter’ towards the Brazilian.
With the likes of Amadou Onana and James Garner, accompanied by the highly experienced Idrissa Gueye, joining the club this summer, the Toffees clearly turned their attention to the long-term future of the squad.
